Primary bone sarcomas are rare tumours with an annual incidence of 2500 new cases in the USA. These tumours affect individuals of varying age groups and have a variable biology and prognosis depending on specific histologic characteristics. Many of these tumours that were universally lethal due to their extremely high metastatic potential are now curable with aggressive multimodality treatment including chemotherapy, surgery and radiation therapy.
